Rules for Businesses
We like businesses
Local businesses are an invaluable source of information for travellers, and we welcome them to GoneGoing. Obay the rules below in addition to the Rules for Everyone and you will help others, and help your business grow.
You may talk about your business in...
... your profile's author description.
... your profile's public discussion board.
... your profile's private discussion board.
You may not talk about your business anywhere else, but...
... you may mention it briefly anywhere on the site, referring people to your profile, if it is a relevant reply to a genuine question.
Why?
These rules mean that the site will stay free of spam while still allowing you to promote your business in a helpful and unobtrusive way.
Writing blog articles as a business
Businesses are welcome to write travel blog articles about their local area or about trips and activities that are related to their business as long as they declare it in their article classification.
You may not go into any detail about your business within the article, but you may briefly mention it and refer people to your profile.
Why?
- Users will understand when they are reading a blog article by a knowledgeable source, and will not feel mislead.
- Users will see that they can view your profile to find more information about your business.
- You will demonstrate that you represent an honest business and a good source of information.
We don't give Google Rank
Although we automatically convert URLs to hyperlinks in user submitted content, we also give them a special tag which tells Google and other search engines to ignore the link.
We do this because we don't want people writing rubbish just for the purpose of getting a link to their site. However if you write something interesting or useful then people will read it and discover your business in a much more genuine way.
Stick to the rules please
If any of these rules are broken, then you may be banned from this site. All final decisions are the sole discretion of James Thurley Ltd.
We may use IP logs as evidence of breaking these rules.
