Our children are all over 18 which allows my husband and I a bit more freedom to travel. In winter, we take a one-week trip out of the country and stay at a 4 or 5 star hotel. We prefer locations with good restaurants and shopping (in case of rain!). We've made our own on-line travel arrangements, but have had much better experiences using a travel agent. In summer we go away a couple of times to the beach and alternate between renting a house, so the kids can be with us, and staying in a hotel.
